Security of Payment Claim (Unpaid Contractor)
Builder or principal hasn't paid your invoice? A statutory payment claim under your state's Security of Payment Act — the document that, outside the Northern Territory, gives them 10 to 15 business days to respond or the full amount becomes a debt you can sue for, with the right to suspend work and go to fast-track adjudication (the Northern Territory has its own dispute and adjudication rules).
What this document does
- A statutory payment claim under your state's Security of Payment Act — the document that, outside the Northern Territory, gives them 10 to 15 business days to respond or the full amount becomes a debt you can sue for, with the right to suspend work and go to fast-track adjudication (the Northern Territory has its own dispute and adjudication rules).
- Records the facts that matter on paper: respondent (builder / principal), respondent business address (for posting the claim), project or site address, engagement, start and last-work dates.
- Sets a clear deadline and spells out what happens if they ignore it.
- Cites the right Act, regulator and tribunal for your state — all eight states and territories covered.
- You review the draft first; we only send it to the other party on your say-so.
