If you were injured in a public place (a slip in a shop, a broken footpath, a dog attack) or harmed by medical treatment in the Northern Territory, there is a time limit to start a claim for damages.
The time limit in the NT
The general rule is 3 years from when the cause of action first accrues (Limitation Act 1981 (NT) s 12). Courts can extend time in some cases, and there are special rules for children and people under a disability, so get advice early.
