If you were injured at work, or became ill because of your work, in the Northern Territory, NT WorkSafe regulates the scheme. These are the steps and time limits from the official sources.
What to do, step by step
- Tell your employer as soon as practicable.
- Get a medical certificate of capacity if you have lost income.
- Lodge the claim within six months (NT WorkSafe). Disputes go to mediation before the Work Health Court.
Injured on the way to or from work?
In the NT, most journeys to and from work in a motor vehicle are excluded from workers compensation. Commutes without a vehicle, such as walking or riding a push bike, are covered (NT WorkSafe).
