Content / IP Licensing Agreement — Licence Your Work, Keep Ownership
Letting someone use your work — a logo, photos, music, artwork, a design or written content — for a fee? For $49 we draft a clean, signable licence agreement built from your answers: it names the parties, identifies the material, sets the grant (exclusive or non-exclusive), the permitted uses, the territory and the term, the fee or royalty, whether sub-licensing is allowed and whether you must be credited — and makes clear that ownership stays with you. A licence lets them use your work; it does not sell it. You download it straight away and both parties sign.
What this document does
- For $49 we draft a clean, signable licence agreement built from your answers: it names the parties, identifies the material, sets the grant (exclusive or non-exclusive), the permitted uses, the territory and the term, the fee or royalty, whether sub-licensing is allowed and whether you must be credited — and makes clear that ownership stays with you.
- A licence lets them use your work; it does not sell it.
- Records the facts that matter on paper: what is being licensed, licensor (owner), licensee, the licensed material.
- Written in plain English but structured the way a lawyer would draft it.
- Delivered as a PDF you download the moment it is ready.
What we'll ask you
Plain-English questions, one at a time. No legal knowledge needed — if you don't know an answer exactly, your best estimate is fine.
- What are you licensing?
- Who owns the work and is granting the licence (the licensor)? Give the full name, and the company name if it is a business.
- Who is being given permission to use it (the licensee)? Full name, and company name if a business.
- Describe the work being licensed so it is clearly identified — what it is, its title or name, and anything that pins down exactly which material is covered.
- Is this an exclusive or a non-exclusive licence?
- What is the licensee allowed to use the work for? List all the permitted uses — for example: on their website and social media, in advertising, on packaging, in a named product or campaign, printed or digital.
- What territory does the licence cover? Most are worldwide, or you can limit it (e.g. Australia only).
- How long does the licence last (the term)? For example a fixed period, ongoing until cancelled, or perpetual.
- What is the licensee paying — the fee or royalty structure? For example a one-off fee, a monthly or annual licence fee, or a royalty (a percentage of sales or per use).
- Can the licensee sub-license the work — let someone else use it too?
- Does the licensee have to credit you (attribution) when they use the work?optional
- Which state or territory's law should govern the agreement? Usually where the licensor is based.
- You review it first · Nothing is sent to anyone else
